3D Printing is a manufacturing process that builds 3-Dimensional objects layer by layer from a digital design.
Instead of cutting material away, it adds material on top of itself until the object is complete. It's often described as 'additive manufacturing'. To do this, a roll of filament is fitted and fed through tubes that lead to a heated nozzle that extrudes melted plastic along an x, y, and z path.
The most common plastics used in 3D Printing are PLA, PETG and ABS.
It's really hard to say but here's a general guideline:
1. From the 3D .stl file, it is uploaded to a silcer, it may take anywhere between 10-60 minutes to cut, reorientate, colour, or set up the print,
2. Once set up, the printer spends 6-7 minutes preparing the bed & nozzle,
3. Printing can take anywhere from 29 minutes to a couple of days to complete. The longest print we've completed for a customer is 3 days, 17 hours and 43 minutes.
Short answer: Depends. On average? 3-18 hours.
After payment, the printing process begins.
Once the item is printed, we will work quickly to ship your order as soon as possible. Most often, it is boxed and dropped off at the pickup point where the courier collects it the following day.
Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with further information. Delivery times vary depending on your location.
Sendle typically takes 3-10 business days.
A difficult question as there is no hard & fast answer, and all 3D Printing Services handle their fees differently.
3D AdHD is blessed not to need to pay overhead fees and, being a small business, can run out of several locations that bring down our shipping fees quite a bit.
Cost is broken down to printing time, electricity, the wear & tear/maintenance of the machines, cost to package and ship the item, and the amount of filament it uses to create the product.
Due to the nature of 3D Printing, we also need to factor in a chance of print failure, which would drastically increase the cost of any item. Although rare, if the print fails at 90% completed, it will cost almost DOUBLE what it originally did at the start.
BIG PROJECT GUARANTEE
Here at 3D AdHD, we're all about transparency and building trusting relationships with our long-term customers. Therefore, all big projects ($1 000+) will receive store credit if your project is printed without hiccup. We'll also send you a link that you can access to receive real-time updates of our progress.
We're currently running the Bambu Lab P1S.
The printer is an enclosed 'workhorse' (as Bambu would like to describe it), that creates extremely high-quality prints at a reliable pace. However, being a desktop printer means it has its limits with sizes and so, any large items will be cut and assembled by us, using dowels and superglue to ensure strength is not compromised post-print.
Knowing this, we may ask you questions about how you are going to use the item as the way we cut it may impact the rigidity of the finished product. For display items, we'll always hide the cut so that it is difficult to spot even knowing where it is.
Plate size: 256mm x 256mm x 256mm.
Occassionally, our 3D Modellers want to create items that are fun, experimental, and reach a different audience. We found that Etsy was the place to reach them.
What started off as a fun way of sharing our passion quickly became a great avenue to market ourselves as the skilful, obessive individuals that we are.
